THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Robert Strain, a former finance executive and investor, is the visionary and developer of Five Islands Estate. Having lived and worked throughout Asia for over 20 years, he has recently made Koh Samui his part time home while spending the remaining time in Singapore.

Having successfully built and sold a private 10 villa project ( Baan Saitara Boutique Villas ) on the island, Robert decided to use his experience and embark on a new vision of luxury on the more secluded western side of the island, the quiet area of Taling Ngam.

For the past 6 years, he has pieced together a collection of plots perched on a hill crest with breathtaking views of the Five Islands, the Ang Thong Marine Park and the Thai mainland in the Gulf of Siam. These collectively form the estate and have been subdivided into 6 private, premium plots, all with unparalleled views.

Serendipity has brought Robert and the founders of Singapore’s PS.Cafe group together when they were looking to build a personal island escape on Koh Samui. They were the very first buyers into the estate and with shared ideals and a passion for private tropical island living, a clear vision of the estate was born.

The Five Islands Estate aims to build a select community of like-minded residents who value the seclusion, privacy and security it offers. The estate achieves this by offering plot sizes between 1200 to 3000 square metres, making it a low density community with 24 hour security.

Designed as an island getaway,the Five Islands Estate is only 40 minutes from Samui’s private international airport which is served by direct flights from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi, Mumbai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, thus making it incredibly well connected to many of Southern Asia’s city hubs.

In addition to existing direct connections, airlines plan to offer direct flights from Shanghai, Dubai and Bali in the near future.

THE CONCEPT, ARCHITECTURE & Materials

When contemplating the overall design of the Five Islands Estate and it’s lush tropical coastal location, it seemed logical to celebrate the amazing elevated views with a palette of materials best described as “modern Thai coastal”. 

Inspired by the rich sandy hues of Koh Samui, selected finishes include granite walls, bleached tones of Thai teak, sandy pebble wash, aged hand cast bronze metal and the mosaic of azure Sukabumi stone. These carefully selected elements are together framed by a brand of contemporary architecture that always invites the unparalleled coastal views into the villas and allows the cool salty ocean breezes to flow throughout its rooms and open corridors…. neither form nor function are sacrificed.
